Jetson's Millions is the twenty-eighth episode of Season Two of The Jetsons, and the 52nd overall episode of the series.
Summary[]
The Jetsons are in debt, so Jane suggests that George should work overtime. George replies that Mr. Spacely doesn't pay overtime. The kids come in with news for the parents; Judy's been invited to a prom, and she needs a gown, shoes, a bag, evening wrap and jewelry, while Elroy says that the kids in his school are signing up for Spaceball Camp. George replies that the kids go make their plans, and they compliment their dad. Jane isn't so sure, since he couldn't afford for the kids' plans, so George suggest he find work at night.
Later, at Spacely Sprockets, George applies for night work while driving taxi shuttles via video call and gets the job. Cosmo comes in, not knowing what George is doing, and reminds him that high-level employees making big bucks and not giving one-hundred percent can get fired, like Gridley, a former employee at Spacely Sprockets, was after Cosmo caught him moonlighting as a used-car salesman. He then gives George a couple books for the Venusian Lottery, which is the biggest lottery in the solar system, for fifty dollars. Every year, winners receive Ten Million Venuties. This year, it could be George. Cosmo later says that Stella's charity organization is selling chances, and he's privileged to give his employees two books each for a crack at the Venusian jackpot.
Later, at Hack Jet 12, George receives a call from his second boss to proceed to Snerdville Drive. George replies that he'll go there to receive the passengers there. He's later shocked to find out that the passengers are the Spacelys, and flees away before he could pick them up. A confused Cosmo wonders if it was something he did.
Later that night, a tired George hops into bed with Jane, but it's not long enough as the alarm rings sooner than later.
The next day, a tired George calls Jane at work and promises to catch up on the weekend. Cosmo comes in and reminds George to gather Gridly's file tapes by Monday. George fears this as putting in full time over the weekend.
The next morning, just as George is getting ready for work, the phone rings and Jane answers. The person on the other line, from Venus, asks for George to come. George groggily comes to the phone and answers the phone. When asked if he bought a raffle ticket, he pulls out the books he bought of his pocket and reads the number. George is then thrilled to hear that he's won the Venusian Lottery. Everyone in the family overhears and are excited. Rosie fears she's getting replaced, but George reminds her that she's part of the family, and that they'll get their maid her own robot. George happily hugs Jane, saying that they've won Ten Million venuties (which is an equivalent of $7.5 Million in USD).
Later that day, George shows up late for work, looking at vacation plans. Cosmo catches him on the act and fires him. George obliviously takes this as a compliment and leaves, thanking Cosmo. Cosmo's secretary Flunkly is about to give Cosmo important news when Stella calls about the winning Venusian Lottery number: their number from their ticket books, which Cosmo absentmindedly gave to George. Cosmo realizes that he did this by accident and mutes his wife's rants, thinking about his being unable to scare George while firing him. Flunkly finally says that Crunchit, the Venusian conglomerate, has been buying up Spacely Sprockets' stock, so if they don't deliver big bucks soon, Spacely Sprockets will go bankrupt. Spacely fears this and reluctantly decides to rehire George.
Later, George comes home and begins to admire the millionaire life with Jane. The kids then come in. Judy wears a gown for her debutante ball while Elroy shows off his environmental transformulator to his parents, so they don't have to take him to Spaceball camp. After a quick game of Spaceball, the kids head to Elroy's room for basketball.
Just then, the contractor and his crew come by to remodel the home, much to George's surprise.
The next morning, after Jane makes breakfast plans with Gourmet A Go-Go, Cosmo comes by and attempts to rehire George. George turns down the offer, adding that he's into a lot of money, so Cosmo suggests that he make George his partner in Spacely Sprockets instead. Noticing that things are a mess in the Jetson home, Cosmo suggests that the Jetsons can stay over at the Spacelys' home until the remodeling is done.
On his way home, Cosmo calls Flunkly, saying that he's succeeded in rehiring Jetson, and that the $1 Million he needs by Monday to give Crunchit are as good as theirs.
Back home, Stella is reluctant of the idea of the Jetsons coming over. She then softens when she sees the family come in. Astro and Orbity are busy chasing Foo-Foo, the Spacelys' pet cat, all over the place.
Coming into Arthur's room, George and Cosmo see that their boys are fighting over Elroy's environmental transformulator. Amazed that Elroy has one, Cosmo treats George to a game of golf, which George admits he hasn't actually played before. Cosmo adds that it's about time George started, especially if he's going to be a businessman.
At the golf environment, Cosmo takes the fall for George, who (almost) misses his swings. Cosmo secretly helps him win on the first eight holes. On the last hole, Cosmo states that the winning shot will be worth $1 Million. Again, Cosmo misses, but this time, George makes a perfect shot and wins (without Cosmo's secret help). Cosmo gives George a stock ticket worth $2 Million, and all George owes $1 Million even, in cash. George replies that he doesn't have his check yet, and that he can receive it the next day. Cosmo adds that George can come by his office with the check then to talk about their partnership.
The next day at Cosmo's office, George shows Cosmo the check, who then shows George the contract to sign. It states that George will invest a small amount in Spacely Sprockets. Cosmo adds that in exchange, George will become VP of the company. Just as George signs the contract, Flunkly comes in with important news about the Venusian economy—they've taken a nosedive, so, in order to stop it, they devalued the Venuties all the way down to one-hundredth of a cent. However, Flunkly then adds that Crunchit's assets were in Venuties, meaning they're bankrupt. Spacely Sprockets is safe. However, this means that the Ten Million Venuties George won are worthless, so Cosmo demotes him to a regular worker, and his first piece of work now that he's rehired is to do the workloads.
Back home, George and Jane reminisce how fun it was being millionaires for a while. George wonders how the Jetsons are going to pay for the contractor's handywork. Jane assures him that he's got more work to handle. Jane then adds that they have something special, something no real millionaire has—bags and bags full of useless Venuties.
